TOBE AUBERGE RESORT will be renewed as “JIJIJIN – Matsuyama”

A Resort to Experience the Nature, Culture, and Cuisine of Tobe with All Five Senses

LOCAL RESORTS Inc. (Headquarters: Tsuruoka City, Yamagata Prefecture; Representative Director: Yayoi Naka) will relaunch and reopen the auberge in Tobe, Ehime Prefecture, as “JIJIJIN Matsuyama” on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Our company, which operates the Shonai Hotel Suiden Terrasse in Tsuruoka, Yamagata—known as the “hotel floating in the rice fields”—has always placed great importance on respecting local resources while sharing their appeal with audiences both in Japan and abroad.

This time, the stage is set in Tobe Town. Overlooking Tōritani Pond, selected as one of the Top 100 Reservoirs of Japan, the property will weave together experiences of the region’s living heritage: the 200-year tradition of Tobe-yaki ceramics, artworks by local creators, seasonal ingredients, and the beauty of nature through the four seasons. Guests will encounter these resources through stays, dining, wellness, and weddings, creating unique and memorable moments.

More than a simple hotel stay, this facility aspires to offer an irreplaceable time that connects people with the land of Tobe—through the essence of Time, Place, and People (Ji–Chi–Jin).

* The “Top 100 Reservoirs of Japan” is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in 2010, selecting one hundred reservoirs nationwide that excel not only in their agricultural role of securing irrigation water, but also in historical value, scenic beauty, contributions to biodiversity, and deep connections with their surrounding communities.
